Bridge & Highway Infrastructure
Expansion joint sealants, pavement joint seals, and structural adhesives for bridges, highways, and airport runways — no bubbling, no shrinkage, no isocyanate.
Request Samples & TDSInfrastructure sealing operates at a fundamentally different scale and severity than building construction. Bridge expansion joints experience continuous cyclic movement from traffic loading and thermal expansion — often ±25% or greater over temperature ranges from -30°C to +70°C. Highway pavement joints must resist abrasion from heavy traffic while maintaining watertight integrity over service lives measured in decades. Airport runway joints add jet fuel resistance and extreme mechanical loading to the specification envelope. In all cases, sealant failure means water infiltration, corrosion of reinforcement, accelerated structural degradation, and costly unplanned maintenance.
MS polymer sealants offer specific advantages in infrastructure applications that address the documented failure modes of conventional alternatives. Unlike polyurethane sealants, MS polymer formulations contain no isocyanate groups — eliminating the CO₂ bubble formation that occurs when isocyanate reacts with moisture in concrete substrates, a common cause of premature joint seal failure in bridge applications. Unlike solvent-based systems, MS polymer sealants are 100% solids with zero volume shrinkage during cure. And unlike silicone sealants, MS polymer products are paintable and non-staining, compatible with adjacent protective coatings and waterproofing membranes.
Primerless adhesion to concrete, asphalt, steel, and aluminum — including on damp substrates — reduces surface preparation requirements in field conditions where weather windows are limited and traffic management imposes tight installation schedules.
