Tunnel & Underground Construction
Waterproofing sealants, penetration sealing compounds, and joint sealants for tunnels, basements, and below-grade structures.
Request Samples & TDSTunneling and underground construction present unique sealing challenges: hydrostatic water pressure, alkaline concrete substrates, limited access for maintenance, confined-space worker safety requirements, and the need for fire-rated penetration sealing at service entries. Conventional polyurethane sealants require isocyanate exposure monitoring and ventilation systems that add cost and complexity to confined-space operations. Silicone sealants lack the adhesion performance required on green (uncured) concrete substrates. MS polymer sealants eliminate both limitations.
The isocyanate-free, solvent-free chemistry of MS polymer enables application in tunnels, shafts, and basements without forced ventilation — a significant practical and cost advantage in underground construction environments. Primerless adhesion to damp and green concrete substrates means joints can be sealed without waiting for full concrete cure, maintaining construction schedules in water-bearing ground conditions. Fire-rated penetration sealing formulations provide classified fire resistance at cable and pipe transit points without halogen content.
Applications span tunnel segment joint sealing in TBM-bored and cut-and-cover construction, cable and pipe penetration sealing through fire-rated assemblies, and below-grade waterproofing for foundation joints, pile cap seals, and basement slab construction joints.
Applications
Tunnel Segment Joint Sealing
Primary and secondary joint sealing in TBM-bored segmental tunnels and cut-and-cover construction joints. Hydrostatic pressure resistant.
Penetration Sealing
Cable and pipe transit sealing through fire-rated walls and floors. Re-enterable, fire-rated, halogen-free. No isocyanate for simplified confined-space safety.
Foundation & Basement Waterproofing
Below-grade construction joint sealing, pile cap seals, and basement slab joints. Damp-substrate adhesion, alkali-resistant for green concrete.
