Wind Energy & Composites
Fiberglass sizing chemistry, mineral filler treatment, and adhesion promotion for wind turbine blades, composite structures, and reinforced polymer systems.
Request Samples & TDSWind turbine blade manufacturing consumes substantial volumes of fiberglass reinforcement, and the performance of the finished blade depends critically on the coupling chemistry applied during glass fiber sizing. Silane coupling agents create covalent bonds between the glass fiber surface and the polymer matrix — epoxy, polyester, or vinyl ester — that determine composite mechanical properties, fatigue resistance, and moisture durability over a 20-25 year service life. As blade lengths extend beyond 100 meters and offshore installations subject structures to more aggressive environmental loading, the demands on interfacial bonding chemistry intensify.
Silantek’s aminosilane and epoxysilane coupling agents are manufactured specifically for fiberglass composite applications, with purity profiles and hydrolysis characteristics matched to the sizing formulation requirements of glass fiber producers. The same coupling agent platform serves adjacent composite manufacturing applications including construction FRP profiles, automotive structural composites, electrical insulation laminates, and pipe/tank fabrication.
MS polymer sealants complement the silane product line in wind energy applications through blade root joint sealing, nacelle enclosure gasketing, and tower section joint sealing — applications where isocyanate-free, UV-stable, flexible sealants provide advantages over conventional alternatives.
